Sage & Thyme Therapies

Are you feeling the pressure of modern day living? Are you needing to take time out of your day to relax? Or, are you interested in the health benefits of Complementary Therapies? Then you have come to the right place.

Hello, my name is Elizabeth,
I am a HND qualified complementary therapist and currently studying a BSc(Hons) in Integrative Healthcare on a part time basis to widen my knowledge and enable me to fine tune treatments for the benefits of my clients. I love learning and keeping up to date with the latest science and information.

Before I found complementary therapies, I was feeling the daily pressures of life, I was regularly suffering from brain fog and I experienced chronic pain in my knees as well as a few other ailments. I didn’t want to resort to medication and so began to research the benefits of complementary therapies. Now, I rarely get knee pain and don’t suffer from brain fog. It has also improved my overall wellbeing to the point that I feel fantastic.

Complementary therapies can also help you with a variety of different things, including most health issues, it can offer additional benefits to conventional healthcare for cancer treatments, alleviating grief, stress and it can boost your overall general health and wellbeing

I offer a wide variety of therapies including;
  • Swedish Massage
  • Reflexology
  • Aromatherapy
  • Reiki

Swedish Massage
When you think of a classic massage, you are usually thinking of a Swedish massage.
The goal of a Swedish massage is to improve your circulation and promote relaxation through soothing your muscles. Therefore, it is quite different from a deep tissue and sports massage. The techniques involve soft strokes over areas which are more prone to pain, or without much muscle coverage. Where the muscles are thicker, the pressure is changed and the massage is deeper.
There are numerous benefits of Swedish massage including:

  • Easing of Muscle Pain
  • Increased Blood Circulation
  • Increased Range of Movement
  • Reduction in Physical and Emotional Stress
  • Aiding Immunity
  • Releasing feel good hormones
  • Improving Sleep

I will do an initial consultation when you arrive and then I will leave the room allowing you to undress down to your underwear and then get under the towels. I will knock before coming back into the room and then we will carry out your massage.

Reflexology
Reflexology is a style of massage used to treat specific zones on your feet, hands, ears and face.
It is based on the theory that all the systems and organs of the whole body are mirrored into smaller areas on the body, such as the feet, hands ear and face.
When you arrive, I will carry out an initial consultation and then I will ask you to pop yourself up on the bed. You will remain fully clothed and will only remove your shoes and socks. I will then work on areas of your feet and tell you what I have worked on afterwards.

It is a very relaxing experience and has many benefits that include:

  • Relaxation
  • Improvement of nerve function
  • Increased Blood Circulation
  • Boosts Metabolism
  • Reduces Headaches
  • Improves Energy Levels

Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy massage is a slightly lighter, slower massage than a Swedish massage. However, it is still a very relaxing massage that works deep into the muscles.

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils derived from plants, fruit and trees, just to name a few. These essential oils not only work through your sense of smell with their fantastic aroma, but they also penetrate the skin and into to the blood stream having both physical and psychological effects on the body.

During your consultation I will ask you three main problem areas you’re experiencing, this can be both physically and mentally. I will then put together a blend of three essential oils mixed with a carrier oil and then allow you to smell to see if you like it. Once we have decided on a blend I will leave the room and allow you to take off your clothes and cover yourself with the towels that are on the bed. We will then carry out the massage.

The benefits of an aromatherapy massage include:
  • Stress reducing
  • Anxiety reliever
  • Increased calmness and relaxation
  • Decrease in muscle tension
  • Pain relief
  • A reduction of symptoms of depression

Reiki

Reiki is a form of energy healing. Energy Healing targets the different energy fields around the body. energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or possibly emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks can cause illness.

Energy healing aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure. Improving the flow of energy around the body, can enable relaxation, reduce pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness.

When you arrive for your treatment, I will carry out an initial consultation and explain to you a bit about reiki. I will then ask you if you would prefer hands off or hands on reiki. Once decided you will get on the bed fully clothed and I will start your reiki session.

Combined Treatments
I can also do combined treatments that incorporate a few different treatments.

It is important to me that you feel relaxed and comfortable with me. I am happy to adapt pressure and treatments to your requirements, everyone is different to its important you tell me what you enjoy.

If you would like to book in for a treatment or would like some more information, feel free to contact me.

Much love,
Elizabeth
